Question 1

How often should a property exterior be repainted?

Accepted Answer

There is no single timescale because it depends on the surface, paint used, weather exposure and condition of the existing finish. If paint is starting to peel, crack, fade or look worn, it is usually a good time to have the exterior assessed.

Question 2

Do you use masonry paint on exterior walls?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Masonry paint can be suitable for a range of exterior masonry surfaces when the correct product is chosen and the surface is properly prepared. We can assess the condition of the walls and advise on the most appropriate approach for the property.

Question 3

What type of outdoor paint is suitable for a house?

Accepted Answer

The best outdoor paint depends on what is being painted, as exterior walls, timber and concrete all have different requirements. We can recommend suitable products for the surface and help ensure the preparation and application are carried out correctly.

Question 4

Can you paint exterior woodwork?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We paint suitable exterior timber surfaces and can use exterior wood paint designed for outdoor exposure. Proper preparation is particularly important with timber, as existing peeling or weathered areas need to be dealt with before the new finish is applied.

Question 5

Can outdoor concrete paint be used on walls and other surfaces?

Accepted Answer

It can be suitable for certain concrete surfaces, but the condition and type of surface need to be considered first. We can assess the area and advise on the appropriate outdoor concrete paint and preparation needed for the job.

Question 6

Do you provide external painting for businesses?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry out external painting for commercial and industrial properties as well as homes. Where possible, we can also arrange work around business hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to help reduce disruption.

Question 7

What is the difference between exterior painting and external painting?

Accepted Answer

There is essentially no practical difference between the two terms, as both refer to painting the outside surfaces of a property. The important part is using suitable materials and preparing the particular exterior surface correctly before painting.

Question 8

Can exterior painting be carried out in any weather?

Accepted Answer

Weather conditions can affect exterior painting, particularly rain, high humidity, strong winds and very low or high temperatures. We keep an eye on conditions and plan the work around suitable weather so the paint can be applied and allowed to dry properly.
